A spokesperson for Pfizer said the company would respond to the potential questions raised by the public interest inquiries. “Pfizer is committed to the successful development of new and innovative medicines, and to the regulatory review and approval process to ensure the drug is suitable for Australian patients and is safe and effective for patients.”
Currently, Pfizer is working on the patent for Viagra in Australia. Pfizer had previously rejected the application in its entirety due to the potential for serious side-effects.
The drug will be marketed by Eli Lilly Australia and works by inhibiting the enzyme phosphodiesterase-5. This can result in a significant drop in blood pressure, and it is not expected that a similar effect will be seen in the US.
Viagra will be available in packs of four, starting from $0.55 for a supply of four packs of four, which is approximately $0.15 per pack. A pack of four will cost $0.55 for a supply of four packs, making it a cost-effective option for patients who require additional medical treatment.

Men in the UK will be able to buy Viagra over the counter after consulting with a pharmacist and without a prescription for the first time today.
ViagraConnect manufacturer, Pfizer, estimates more than a fifth of men aged over 18 in Britain suffer from erectile dysfunction, but almost half of those over 40 have not sought medical help.
The erectile dysfunction drug will be available in 14,000 stores across Britain and via pharmacy websites.
